A reputable law firm in Nairobi, seeks a qualified Advocate to join its dynamic legal team. This role will primarily focus on providing legal services related to banking and financial institution transactions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Structure, negotiate, draft, and review documentation for a variety of financing transactions.
  • Analyze legal and commercial issues to prepare comprehensive advisory opinions.
  • Draft, review, and negotiate loan agreements, security documents (e.g., charges, debentures, guarantees), and other related instruments.
  • Advise banks and financial institutions on regulatory compliance with the Banking Act, CBK Prudential Guidelines, and other relevant legislation.
  • Conduct thorough due diligence and manage the perfection and registration of securities at land, company, and movable assets registries.
  • Provide expert legal opinions on banking and finance matters, including insolvency, restructuring, and syndicated lending.
  • Represent banking clients in litigation, enforcement of securities, and debt recovery proceedings.
  • Monitor and interpret changes in financial sector legislation, providing timely advice to clients.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor of Laws (LLB) degree from a recognized university.
  • Admitted Advocate of the High Court of Kenya with 3 to 5 years of post-qualification experience in a law firm.
  • Strong understanding of Kenyan banking laws and proven experience in drafting and negotiating banking agreements.
  • Excellent legal drafting, problem-solving, negotiation, organizational, and planning skills.
  • Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively as part of a team.
  • Demonstrated ability to work 1 independently, collaboratively, under pressure, and meet strict deadlines.
  • High level of integrity, professionalism, confidentiality, and adherence to professional ethics.
  • Excellent organizational and analytical skills with a keen attention to detail.
